Dabur Nepal, NTA reward medal winning stars
Kathmandu, April 25:
Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd and Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) rewarded the medal winners of the 10th South Asian Games and 15th Asian Games, here at a felicitation programme on Wednesday.
Dabur Nepal — which had announced Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 to the gold, silver and bronze medal winners respectively before the 15th Asiad held in Doha from December 1-15, 2006 — gave away the cheque of Rs 25,000 each to three bronze medallists Deepak Bista, Manita Shahi and Ayesha Shakya.
The NTA also presented the 10th SAG taekwondo medallists with cash prizes and felicitation letters. Gold medal winners Deepak Bista and Manita Shahi were given away Rs 15,000 each, while silver medallists Ayesha Shakya, Padma Gurung and Kumar Manandhar received Rs 10,000 each and bronze medallist Sangina Baidya received Rs 5,000.
Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative Chhabi Lal Biswakarma, member secretary of National Sports Council (NSC) and general secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC)Jeevan Ram Shrestha, NOC president Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, NOC and NSC vice president Sita Ram Maskey, NTA president Rukma Shumsher Rana and director of Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd Ishwori Rana handed over the awards to the players.
NTA also gave away the certificates to the 12 sponsors and well wishers, 12 managers and coaches, and the participants of the 4th National Taekwondo Referee Seminar held in Kathmandu from April 22-25.
Taekwondo stamp released
KATHMANDU: Nepal Philatelic Bureau, Postal Services Department issued taekwondo’s stamps on Wednesday. Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative Chhabi Lal Biswakarma put on the first cancellation mark. Designed by Mohan N Rana, the Rs 5 stamp features two players in action. A total of 500,000 stamps have been printed in the first phase. — HNS
