Dabur Pro 40 Cricket Tournament from January 20

Kathmandu, January 8:

Amateur Cricketers’ Association of Nepal (ACAN) and Shangri-La Cricket Academy are jointly organising the Dabur Pro 40 Cricket Tournament at the Tribhuvan University Stadium from January 20-26.

The participating four teams — Yeti Airlines Yellers (captained by Dipendra Chowdhary), Kantipur Killers (Shakti Gauchan), VOITH Victors (Raju Khadka) and Shangri-La Sharks (Sandip Raj Kafle) — will play each other in the round-robin league with top two making it to the final, said the organisers at a press meet today. The matches will be played 40-over-a-side.

The teams are formed with six members from national side, four from Under-19 and two from Under-15 national teams. VOITH Victors and Kantipur Killers have sponsored their teams for Rs 150,000 each and the cricketers playing for these teams will get Rs 500-700 per match. Yeti Airlines and Shangri-La are fielding their own teams.

“The tournament is the perfect platform for the endorsement and employment opportunities for our national cricketers, which is the primary objective of ACAN,” said Aamir Akhtar, director of Shangri-La Cricket Academy. ACAN treasurer Dipendra Chowdhary and member Sharad Vesawkar were also present on the occasion.

Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd is the main sponsor of the tournament which is also supported by UFO, The Himalayan Times, Kantipur TV, Kantipur FM, Tehzeeb, Quest Entertainment, Shangri-La Hotel and Resort, Everest Beer, Asian Thai Foods and Linez Advertising.
