LALITPUR, FEBRUARY 20

Defending champion Prince Dahal and Anumaya Rai won the singles titles of the 11th Pushpalal Memorial Ranking National Badminton Championship here at the Nakhipot covered hall on Sunday.

Dahal defeated Nabin Shrestha 21-10, 18-21, 21-18 in the men's singles final, while Rai finished first after national champion Rashila Maharjan retired while training 21-19, 10-4 due to injury on her foot.

Top two shuttlers in both sections received Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.

Dipesh Dhami and Bijit Thapa won men's doubles trophy, while Rashila Maharjan and Amita Giri bagged women's doubles title. Bidhan Adhikari and Saniya Chand finished first in singles contests for outside top 16 players, while David Thapa and Rashila Maharjan won the U-17 section titles.

Likewise, Bishal Herachan and Shambhu Kumar Shrestha won above-45 section title, while Buddhi Chaudhary and Pushpa Shrestha finished first in above-45 category.

Players from 47 districts and three departmental sides took part in the tournament that featured 10 events.
