DAV, Fighters record wins
Kathmandu, April 6
DAV and Fighters recorded wins in the Tiptop Marwadi Premier League here at the TU Stadium today.
DAV defeated Balkumari Cricket Club by five wickets in the Group A match, while Fighters saw off RSK Lions by eight runs in Group B.
In the day’s first match, Balkumari posted 143-8 in their 20 overs before DAV raced to 146-5 in 18.2 overs.
DAV won the match riding on Aashutosh Ghiraiya’s 51-ball 61 that included six boundaries and two sixes, while Purnendu Ghosh scored an unbeaten 22-ball 37 hitting three boundaries and two sixes. Ghiraiya and Ghosh also added 46 runs for the fifth wicket.
Balkumari’s Vikash Rathore claimed three wickets and Arvind Chaudhary took two wickets.
Earlier, Balkumari posted the fighting total after Pritam Thapa scored a quick fire 32-ball 67 not out hitting a boundary and seven sixes, while opener Arvind Chaudhary scored 42 off 32 balls that included four boundaries.
DAV’s Shikhar Bothara picked up four wickets and man-of-the-match Aashutosh Ghiraiya claimed two wickets.
In another match, Fighters scored ade 152-5 before restricting Lions to 144-7. Man-of-the-match Bibek Rana Magar scored an unbeaten 53 off 33 balls hitting two each fours and sixes to guide Fighters to a fighting total. Pramod Singh added 37 off 41 balls and Ankit Garg contributed 28-ball 32 with the help of four boundaries.
Umesh Kochar and Naveen Jai claimed one wicket each for Lions. In reply, Rishab Shetia scored 31-ball 42 with the help of seven boundaries, while Durgesh Thapa added 40 off 33 balls hitting four fours.
Fighters’ Krishna Kedia and Neeraj Jalan claimed two wickets each, while Ankit Garg picked up one wicket.
