Kathmandu, December 24:

DAV College and hosts Laboratory entered the semi-finals of the first Valleywide Twenty-20 Inter-college Cricket Tournament, which has been organised by Laboratory Higher Secondary School, here today.

Playing at the home ground, Laboratory HS School outplayed Bernhartd College by 133 runs and DAV defeated Little Angels’ by four wickets.

In the first match, Little Angels’ were bowled out for 74 runs in 18 overs after electing to bat, while DAV reached the victory target losing six wickets in 15.1 overs.

Aditya Malla top-scored for Little Angels’ with 14, whereas Abdul Khan and Nasim Akhtar contributed 13 and 12 runs respectively. For DAV, man of the match Mohammad Hussain, Samrat Amatya, and Dipen Shrestha took two wickets each.

In reply, none of the DAV College batsmen could score in double figures but reached the victory target as Little Angels’ bowlers conceded 51 extra runs. Chandra Gurung top-scored with seven runs, while Ashiq Sharma and Nishesh KC made six runs each.

In the other match, Laboratory amassed 177/7 in 20 overs and restricted Bernhardt for 44 runs in 14.4 overs. Pravin Shakya scored 45 off 28 balls and Suman Uday made 42-ball 45. Sanjay Shrestha scored 34 off 17 balls. For Bernhardt, Abhaya Bajracharya and Prajanya Sapkota took two wickets each.

In reply, Sanjog Thapa (10) was the lone Bernhardt batsman to reach double figures. Man of the match Bikash Basnet took 4-7 off four overs and was ably supported by Sanjay Shrestha who took three wickets conceding five runs in his 1.4-over spell.

In Tuesday’s semi-finals, DAV will take on National Campus, while Lab play against Cosmopolitan College at the same venue. The final is slated for Thursday.
