Dharan thrash Kaski, enter last four

Dharan Football Club defeated Kaski-XI 3-0 and advanced to the semi-finals of the 19th International Invitational Red Bull Budha Subba Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the ANFA Technical Centre grounds today.

Rajin Subba, Prakash Budhathoki and Buddha Chemjong scored a goal each for the second team of the hosts. Dharan opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Subba found the back of the nets following a free kick from Hemanta Gurung.

Budhathoki doubled the tally in the 28th minute after he converted a 25-yard free kick into a goal, while Chemjong put the issue beyond doubt with the team’s third goal in the 69th minute. All the three goal scorers and Peter Segun wasted chances created by the team.

At the end, Kaski muffed a total of four goal scoring chances with Hari Gurung, Bishwojit Gurung, Sinkaman Tamang and Ishwor Baniya coming close. Dharan’s Subba won the man-of-the-match award and received Rs 5,000, while the three scorers were rewarded with Rs 2,000 each.

Dharan FC coach Subash KC lauded his players’ performance. “We were able to convert the chances which helped us in registering an easy victory,” KC said. Kaski coach Sabash Gurung said his inexperienced players failed to penetrate through strong defense. “We created a number of chances but the players failed to convert them,” Gurung added.

On Monday, Nepal APF Club will play against CMG Club Sankata.
