Daimoj Dhimal’s last gasp strike steers Nepal Army to a 1-0 win against a formidable New Road Team (NRT) in the seventh Aaha Gold Cup here at the Pokhara Stadium today.

Dhimal headed home the winner following a 88th minute corner kick from Hari Bahadur Mahato. The Armymen will take on Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club in the quarter-finals on February 1. Nepal Army skipper and goalkeeper Bikash Malla won the man of the match award.

NRT coach Maheswor Mulmi believed that their opponent were lucky to have scored the winner. “The match was competitive and either of the teams could have won,” added Mulmi. Nepal Army coach Raju Shakya was happy that NRT could not cash on their players’ proper shape. “Their (NRT) players were more fit than ours but we still won the match,” added Shakya.

Nabil Three Star Club will take on ANFA Under-18 team on Thursday.
