Disappointing start for Nepal in Under-15 Cup

Kathmandu, May 27 :

The Group ‘A’ match between Nepal and Malaysia in the ACC U-15 Cup (Elite Group) cricket ended in a draw. At close on the second day, Nepal were 52/5 at Kelab Alam in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Earlier, Nepal added just nine runs to their overnight score of 41 before losing the remaining three wickets in the first innings. Hosts Malaysia, who scored 143 in the first innings, declared their second innings at 94/8 in 33.3 overs.

Krishna Karki, who had taken four first innings wickets, added another three in the second

innings, and was ably supported by Rochak Bhatta, who also pocketed three wickets.

Bhatta had sneared three wickets in first innings.

Chasing a victory target of 187, Nepal were struggling to save the match scoring 52/5 in 46 overs in the second innings. Akash Pariyar top-scored with 26 and Surendra Chand made 10. With the result, Nepal earned nine points — for claiming 18 wickets while Malaysia got 12.5 points — 7.5 for taking 15 wickets and five bonus for taking a first innings lead.

In another Group ‘A’ match, Hong Kong and Singapore also played a draw. Hong Kong scored 111 and 191/8 while Singapore made 158/5 in their first innings and did not bat in the second.

Both the Group ‘B’ matches — Afghanistan vs UAE and Kuwait vs Bahain — ended in no results.
