Double delight for Shree Gaun

Kathmandu, January 28

Shree Gaun Development Committee registered double victory and climbed up to fourth position in the Red Bull Dhorpatan UM Women’s Double League Volleyball here today.

Shree Gaun registered identical 3-0 wins over Springdale Academy and Eastern Volleyball Association at the Dhorpatan Volleyball Training Centre courts in New Buspark. Shree Gaun accumulated 18 points and are tied on fourth with Eastern Region, Tops HS School and Tribhuvan Army Club.

Shivam New Diamond Club are at the top of the 12-team table with 30 points from 10 matches, while another unbeaten side Nepal APF Club are second with 27 from nine games. The two teams will face each other on Monday to decide the first round winners, although APF will have one match in hand.

Nepal Police Club are third with 27 from 11 matches. Meghauli Sports Club, who have 14 points from 10 matches, are seventh. These seven teams are almost certain to make it the second round of the tournament.

On Sunday, Shree Gaun beat Springdale 25-7, 25-8, 25-14 in their first match and returned to beat Eastern Region 25-17, 25-21, 28-26. In other matches, Tops defeated Eastern Region 25-13, 25-6, 25-13, while TAC beat Meghauli 25-13, 25-12, 25-5. Meghauli returned to register a 25-14, 25-7, 25-11 victory over New Diamond Sports Club, while Paramount rallied to beat the same opponents 18-25, 25-19, 25-20.
