Ed Mark beat Two Star; Kathmandudes win

Kathmandu, June 27:

Rajeev top-scored with 20 points but could not save Two Star Club from going down 68-74 to Ed Mark Academy at the second Annual Father Watrin Men’s Basketball Championshop, which has been organised by Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) in association with The Himalayan Times, here at GAA Hall.

Two Star started well but were restricted to 14 points after Ed Mark hopsters bounced back and scored 15 points in the first quarter. Two Star managed just nine points in the second quarter to Ed Mark’s 23 and could add 10 in the third quarter to Ed Mark’s 20. Ed Mard outplayed Two Star in the last quarter and won 74-68.

In another match, Kathmandudes beat Peace Zone Club 55-52. Grady Walker netted 13 points for the winners and Rabin Khadgi of Peace Zone scored 17 points, including two three-pointers. Also, Himalayan White House International College beat St Xavier’s College Team XII 62-43. Krijan Shrestha of St Xavier’s top-scored with 13 points and Anil Maharjan netted 12 points for White House.

Shah re-elected

KATHMANDU: The Annual General Meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has elected president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Jai Kumar Nath Shah as its vice president for one more year. The meeting was held on June 26 in London. Shah was elected the vice president last year too.

S&C lift title

KATHMANDU: Support and Care, a rehabilitation centre of Chitwan, won the third Aasara Running Shield Football Tournament organised by Aasara Sudhar Kendra (ASK), Kathmandu. In the day’s final, Support and Care defeated Nava Kiran United of Hattigauda 4-2 on penalties, after a 3-3 tie. In all, eight rehabilitation centre teams took part in the event, which was held to mark the International Drug Addicts’ Day. President of ASK Anshu Thapa, Director at Police Training Academy AIGP Amar Singh Shah, and AIGP Rabi Kanta Aryal gave away prizes to the winners.

Satdobato YC win

KATHAMNDU: Niresh Dulal scored four goals as Satdobato Youth Club blanked Sankata Club 5-0 in the Martyrs’ Memorial ‘C’ Division League Football Tournament. Utsav Shrestha also netted for Satdobato. In another match, Naxal Youth Mandal and King Come Club played a 1-1 draw. Pradip Giri scored for Naxal in the 29th minute while Ranjit Chaudhari scored an equaliser in the 74th. Makar Gurung scored two goals in Annapurna Club’s 3-2 win over Chakrapath Club; and Sanepa Club defeated Garuda Sports Club 2-1.

Singers vs models

KATHMANDU: Women Skillful Training Centre is organising a charity football match between Singers and Models, at Dasharath Stadium on Saturday. Pop star Yogeshwor Amatya will lead the Singers side, while Manish Shrestha is the skipper of the models team. The organisers said that the proceeds will be distributed among five organisations, working for the services of the disables.

IoE, IoM triumph

LALITPUR: Subhash Chand, Tirtha Raj Gurung and Sishir Gautam scored a goal each as Institute of Engineering (IoE) defeated Kantipur College of Management and Information Technology 3-1 at the NCE Cup Inter-technical College Football Tournament, which has been organised by National Students’ Council of National College of Engineeing (NCE), today. In other matches, Institute of Medicine (IoM) beat ACEM 5-4 on penalties; and NCE ‘Red’ beat HICAST 4-3, also in tie breaker.
