EPL: Chitwan Tigers, Kathmandu Kings secure wins

KATHMANDU: Chitwan Tigers and Kathmandu Kings XI have registered victories during their Everest Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament in Kathmandu, on Friday.

Tigers romped to five runs victory against Biratnagar Warriors and Kings XI defeated Pokhara Rhinos by five wickets and four balls to spare.

Biratnagar Warriors skipper Paras Khadka won the toss and opted to field first before restricting Chitwan Tigers for 196/4. In reply, Warriors agonisingly fell short by five runs despite Babar Hayat whirlwind 90 runs. Tigers English batsman John Simpson top scored with 78 runs including six fours and five sixes.

Tiger's Lalit Bhandari who claimed four Warriors scalps was awarded man of the match.

In another match, Rohan Mustafa Kings XI skipper and UAE player won the toss and elected to field first before restricting Rhinos for 165/6.

In reply, Kings XI rode on the man of the match Kevin O'Brien unbeaten 54 runs to crush Rhinos by five wickets and four balls remaining in the innings.

After four rounds of matches, Rhinos failed to muster a victory in the campaign, and subsequently, dumped out of a group stage.

Meanwhile, Lalitpur Patriots and Bhairahawa Gladiators have already qualified for the playoff.
