EPL gearing up for second edition with highest prize money

KATHMANDU: The second edition of the Everest Premier League, with the highest prize money of Rs 2.1 million for the winning team, is set to be held in December of this year in Kathmandu.

In a press statement today, organisers said the event will be played in round robin format at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

The event will feature six franchise-based teams—Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Birgunj and Bhairahawa.

"A pool of 15 players will fit into each team; 10 players through an auction, 1 local player through a talent hunt (conducted by the franchise itself in the local city) and 1 Marquee player (optional). Each franchise is obligated to feature 3 foreign players in its team to complete its quota of 15 players," it said in a statement.

The organisers have vowed to offer plenty of excitement and 'cricketainment' experience at the ground by involving vendors, event managers and entertainers having experience working in the Indian Premier League.

Earlier, the first edition of the Wai Wai Everest Premier League held last year was won by Panchakanya Tez.
