Everest Marathon

KATHMANDU: Himalayan Expedition is organising the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon on October 5. The 13th edition of the race, originally scheduled for May 29, was postponed because of the devastating earthquake, informed the organisers at a press meet on Tuesday. A total of 30 international participants will compete against the local athletes in the 42.195km race that begins at Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5364m and ends at Namche Bazaar (3446m). The race is divided into four categories – Open, Women, Foreigners and Half-marathon. Top three in open section will receive Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, while the top three in other categories will get Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000.
