Porto waste chance to advance in 0-0 draw with Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN: FC Porto missed a chance to guarantee its place in the knockout stages of the Champions League after being held to a 0-0 draw in Group G by FC Copenhagen on Tuesday.

The Danes can advance in the second spot if Porto only draws against Leicester in the last round and Copenhagen beats last-placed Brugge. Both teams would be on nine points with Copenhagen having a better head-to-head record.

Copenhagen started aggressively with Benjamin Verbic looking dangerous, while Ludwig Augustinsson and Andrija Pavlovic had shots blocked. For Porto, Andre Silva and Diogo Jota also threatened.

After halftime, Copenhagen lost the initiative, allowing Porto's Maximiliano Pereira, Silva, Jesus Coruna and Jota to keep goalkeeper Robin Olsen busy.

It was always going to be a tough task for Porto with Copenhagen now unbeaten at home for 33 matches over 15 months.

The third-placed team out of the two clubs is guaranteed a spot in the Europa League.
