Ferrero joins Spain's Davis Cup squad
MADRID: World No.23 Juan Carlos Ferrero will join the Spanish squad to face the Czech Republic in next month's Davis Cup final, non-playing captain Albert Costa announced on Thursday.
"It will be very good to count on a player of (Ferrero's) experience," Costa said in a statement issued by the Spanish Tennis Federation.
Costa announced on Monday that world number two Rafael Nadal would lead Spain's defence of its title in Barcelona on December 4-6, backed by Fernando Verdasco, ranked eight, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez.
Lopez and Verdasco are expected to form the doubles partnership.
Spain, the defending champions after beating Argentina last year, will be playing their seventh Davis Cup final.
