Ferrero, Nadal win

Top-seeded Rafael Nadal and Juan Carlos Ferrero won in straight sets at the Swedish Open and set up a quarter-final between the French Open champions. Nadal, gunning for his seventh title on clay this year, ousted Alberto Martin 6-2, 6-4, while Ferrero won all-Spanish duel against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-3, 6-4. Ferrero won the French Open in 2003, and Nadal this year as he turned 19. In quarters, Nadal will hold a 2-0 record against Ferrero, both wins this year in the final at Barcelona, and first round at Valencia. The last Swede in the draw, No 7 Robin Soderling, lost to Spain’s Oscar Hernandez 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. No Swedes have reached the quarters for the first time since 1977. Hernandez will meet Jiri Vanek after the Czech outlasted French qualifier Florent Serra 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
