Football player dies

NEW YORK: A New Jersey high school football player died after he was hurt in a game on Friday night, school officials confirmed on Saturday. Quarterback Evan Murray, a three-sport star at Warren Hills Regional High School died after being injured during a game in Washington.

In a statement released on Saturday, interim Superintendent Gary Bowen said the school community was “deeply saddened” but did not elaborate on the nature of Murray’s injury. He said the cause of death had not yet been determined.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and the NFL’s New York Jets were among those who offered condolences on Saturday.
