KATHMANDU: United Pahara Club of Sindhupalchowk is organising the first Pahara Cup Football Tournament at the Lamachaur grounds from November 22-28.

A total of 10 clubs from Kathmandu, Dolakha and Kavre will take part in the tournament, said Club President Dev Dorje Tamang at a press meet on Tuesday.

The winners of the knock out tournament will walk away with Rs 100,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs 50,000. President Tamang added they had requested the district FAs to send the team. “We have asked the FAs to select and send the teams for the tournament,” he added.

Sindhupalchowk District FA President Bir Bahadur Khadka said the tournament would help in popularising the sport in hilly area like Thulo Pahara.

“As this is the first initiation and the grounds is also not up to the international standard, we are not expecting ‘A’ division clubs this year,” he said.
