Football tourney kicks off in Damauli

Chhang VDC defeated Manpang VDC in straight sets in the opening match of the Open Volleyball Tournament organised by the District Sports Development Committee of Tanahun here on Friday. Chhang registered a 25-14, 25-22 victory.
The winners of the tournament will receive Rs 50,555, while the runners-up will get Rs 25,225 along with trophy, medal and certificates. The best player of the tournament will also get attractive prize, informed the organisers.
President of Nepal Olympic Committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha inaugurated the tournament. Shrestha said such tournaments help in luring youths into the sport.
President of Western Regional Sports Development Committee Khagaraj Paudel, President of Tanahun District Sports Development Committee Rishi Bhushal, vice-president Mani Rana, Secretary Shiva Hari Pandit among others were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Seven-a-side Open Football Tournament kicked off here today. Dovan Youth Club defeated Byas Youth Club ‘B’ 2-1 in the inaugural match. A total of 35 teams from the district are taking part in the tournament organised by Byas Youth Club on the occasion of Deepawali.
The winners of the tournament will receive Rs 77,777 along with trophy, medal and certificates, while the runners-up will get Rs 38,888, informed Byas Youth Club President Jeevan Gurung.
The best player of the tournament and the highest scorer will also be awarded. President of Western Regional Sports Development Committee Khagaraj Paudel inaugurated the event.
