Four in a row for NTSC, Army
Kathmandu, November 14:
Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) and Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) registered their fourth consecutive win at the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League Football today.
Three Star beat Ranipokhari Corner Team (NRT) 4-3 while the TAC struggled against New Road Team (NRT) in a 1-0 win.
Three Star bounced back twice to beat RCT on two goals each from Pradeep Maharjan and Yugal Kishor Rai. Sikender Singh and Rishi Rai scored a goal each for RCT while Three Star’s Santosh Gurung conceded an own goal.
RCT took a lead on a Santosh Gurung own goal after RCT skipper Madhu Karki’s free kick deflected into the wall and entered the net in the eighth minute. Pradeep levelled the scores in the 40th minute on Surendra Tamang’s set up. His right-footed shot hit the inner edge of the post before kissing the net. Three Star’s celebrations was still ripe when Sikender Singh put RCT ahead again scoring on a pass from Rajan Gauchan just two mintues later.
Yugal and Pradeep combined to level the scores at 2-2 in the 54th minute with Pradeep giving the finishing touch while Yugal, who was later named the Adidas man of the match, put Three Star ahead scoring a spectacular goal from the edge of the box. Rai then scored his second goal to put Three Star 4-2 ahead in the 72nd minute. RCT narrowed the margin when Rishi Rai found the net in the 75th minute, but that was not sufficient to snatch points from Three Star.
In the second match, Chun Bahadur Thapa found the winner on a spot kick in the 32nd minute after Naresh Darshandhari seemed to handled the ball and referee Saugesh Ram Shrestha had no hesitation to point at the spot.
NRT captain and goalkeeper Surendra Shrestha said that the referee made a mistake in awarding the penalty. “I was the one who saved the ball,” he said.
