Free training for orphan children

Nepal Taekwondo Association started the 10-month special training for orphan and underprivileged children here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.

A total of 270 kids from six organisations, including one from Pokhara, will be trained for free. Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripaili inaugurated the event which is being held with the slogan of “Let’s Build The Future With Taekwondo”. Participants and members of Kapan Tigers performed cultural shows and demonstration at the opening ceremony.

As per the programme, the NTA will send coaches to train the children for free in their respective organisations and they will be provided with the opportunities of participating in various tournaments. The NTA has selected Aradhana Taekwondo Dozang, Night Vision, Muskan Sewa, Necos Home, ECDC and Asahaya Bal Kendra of Pokhara for the programme which is also supported by the World Taekwondo Federation.

NTA General Secretary Deep Raj Gurung said taekwondo was just not a sports but it was also an education. “We are aiming to develop the sport through social activities like this,” he added. The NTA will provide the participating organizations with the training kits required for the children and also hold grading for free.

Meanwhile, the NTA nominated Chief Executive Officer of Jagadamba Steels Rosit Unninthan and hair stylist Neel David Katwal as the members of the Para-Taekwondo Committee headed by Qasim Miya Dhobi. Minister Sripali handed over the certificates to them at the programme.
