FW Taylor, Nobel win

Kathmandu, December 22:

FW Taylor registered an emphatic 155-run win over Campion College while Nobel College defeated Xavier International by nine wickets in the Thakur Nath Pant Memorial Inter-college Cricket Tournament today.

Electing to bat first, FW Taylor scored a mammoth 217-8 in 20 overs. Sanjay Shrestha scored 84 off 54 deliveries including nine fours and four sixes. Yaswant Subedi chipped in 31-ball 37 runs that included five hits to the fence and one six while Raju Basnet made 23 runs. Prabin Sippy bagged two wickets while Chandan Shrestha, Anirup Chhetri, Rikendra Dhakal and Nima Shrestha shared a wicket each for Campion.

In reply to 217, Campion was bowled out for 53 runs in 14.3 overs. Apart from Sarvesh Mainali (11) and Chandan Shrestha (11) no other Campion batsmen reached the double figures. Ajay Rajbansi and Raju Basnyat claimed three wickets each while Ayush Shresha took two and Amit Khadka and Kalam Ali picked one wicket each for FW Taylor.

In the second match, Xavier International was bowled out for meagre 47 runs in 17 overs after deciding to bat first.

Aditya Shrestha (22) scored almost half the team’s total as wickets crumbled in regular intervals at the other end. Dipendra Dhakal took four wickets conceding seven runs in four overs while Nitesh Chaudhary claimed three wickets for Nobel College. Chetan Khatiwada and Ravi Sapkota also bagged one wicket each.

In reply, Nobel chased the total in 5.3 overs with the loss of one wicket. Bikash Chapagain scored 13 runs while Ujjwol Khadka and Deep Sharma both scored unbeaten 11 runs each. Sarim Alam took the only wicket to fall for Xavier International.
