Galaxy win COAS Cup cricket

Bhakatpur, February 27:

Prithu Banskota scored a fluent 59 as Galaxy Public School registered a thumping 121-run victory over Learning Realm International (LRI) in the final of the COAS Cup Inter-school Cricket today.

Electing to bat first, Galaxy scored 188-9 in their allotted 40 overs. In reply, LRI were dismissed for just 67 runs in 24.3 overs. Galaxy were indebted largely to Banskota in compiling the total. Banskota scored 59 from 64 balls. Dipesh Agrawal made 63-ball 25, Akash Gupta 18 and Aakrit Dahal 16. Rasendra Bhattarai, Nischal Dhakal and Niranjan Rawal claimed two wickets each for LRI.

For LRI, Nischal Aryal top-scored with 29 runs. LRI lost their last seven wickets for just five runs. Ajit Maden, who was later named as the best bowler of the tournament, took 4-15 from six overs for Galaxy. Bibhav Joshi bagged three and man-of-the-match Prithu Banskota snared one wicket.

Banskota was also declared the best batsman of the tournament apart from winning the man-of-the-series award. The winner got Rs 10,000 and the runner up Rs 7,000. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Rookmangad Katawal gave away the prizes.
