Gaunt shares lead
MOSCOW: Daniel Gaunt and Scott Jamieson both fired opening-round six-under 65s to share the lead after day one of the Russian Open on Thursday. Australian Gaunt hit three birdies, an eagle and a double bogey on the back nine alone, with Scotland’s Jamieson picking up six birdies in a round of no dropped shots.
Wales’ Bradley Dredge and England’s Lee Slattery were a shot back on 66 at Skolkovo Golf Club. An eight-player group on four under included defending champion David Horsey, chasing a second victory in three weeks following his win in Denmark, in the first tournament to count for next year’s Ryder Cup.
