GCA, RMS enter final

Kathmandu, June 25:

Greenland Children’s Academy (GCA) and Rajan Memorial School (RMS) entered the final of the second GCA Inter-school Girls’ Cricket Tournament here today.

In the first semi-final, GCA defeated Gyan Kunja by 79 runs. Batting first after winning the toss at the Tundikhel grounds, GCA accumulated 162/4 in their allotted 30 overs. Geeta Chudal scored a quick fire 56 off 37 balls including a four, while Purnima Sharma contributed 13 off 11 balls.

For Gyan Kunja, Ashmi Shrestha took two wickets while Bijeta Acharya and Samna Sapkota claimed one each. In reply, Gyan Kunja were packed for just 83 runs in 19 overs. Shilu Rijal scored 19 off 15 balls hitting two fours, while Saira made 14-ball 15. For GCA, woman of the match Purnima Sharma took 3-16, Ranjita Gauchan claimed 3-20 and Monica Gurung pocketed 2-12.

In the second match, Rajan Memorial beat Bhanubhakta Memorial School by 51 runs. Batting first, Rajan Memorial scored 112/6 in 20 overs and then restricted Bhanubhakta for 61 runs in 14 overs.

Bijaya Thapa scored 19 and Sandhya Giri made 15 for Rajan Memorial. Chonu Gurung and Dipti Karki took two wickets for two wickets each. In reply, none of the Bhanubhakta players reached the double figure mark. Woman of the match Sandhya Giri took four wickets and Sarita claimed two for Rajan Memorial. The final is slated for Wednesday.
