Golden Gate, K&K in last eight

Kathmandu, April 7

Golden Gate and K&K College advanced to the quarter-finals of the Sponsor University Cricket Cup Twenty20 Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Golden Gate thrashed Kathmandu University by 10 wickets, while K&K defeated Rajarshi College by six wickets.

Put into bat first, KU were bowled out for 44 runs in 16 overs with none of their batsmen reaching double figure. Golden Gate raced to the target without losing a wicket with 17 overs to spare. Suman Uday was pick of the Golden Gate bowlers taking four wickets, while Prashanna Shakya and Indrakamal Manandhar took two wickets each.

Indrakamal Manandhar scored a fiery eight-ball 23 not out with the help of four boundaries and a six, while Bijay Gautam remained unbeaten on 17 of just nine balls that included three boundaries.

In another match, Rajarshi were bowled out for 126 runs in 19.2 overs after they elected to bat first, while K&K reached the target losing four wickets in 10.3 overs. Rajarshi posted a fighting total riding on Sudeep Mani Nepal’s 22-ball 29 and Sudarshan Joshi’s 26 off 27. Kaushal Basnet and Ram Bhattarai claimed three wickets each for K&K.

In reply, Ram Bhattarai’s 42 off 44 balls and Aldrin Shiwa’s unbeaten 28 off 15 were enough for K&K to win the match.
