Golden Gate win

Kathmandu, June 11:

Golden Gate clinched the fifth Fr Watrin Men’s Basketball Tournament with a comfortable 59-40 win over Southsiders in the final held here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.

Golden Gate bounced back from the first quarter deficit of three points (12-15) to beat Southsiders by 19 points in the end. Golden Gate managed 22 points in the second quarter restricting Southsiders to 11 to take seven points lead at the end of the half time. Golden Gate never looked back after that scoring 13 and 12 while giving away just six and eight points to their opponent in the last two quarters.

Rishi Robertson of Southsiders finished as the highest scorer of the tournament while Golden Gate skipper Bipen Maharjan was declared the most valuable player. In all 13 teams took part in the tournament organised by Godavari Alumni Association (GAA). Former GAA member Lalit Bikram Shah gave away the prizes.
