Golf Clinic begins

Kathmandu, January 5:

The Junior Golf Clinic, organised jointly by Nepal Golf Association (NGA) and Royal Nepal Golf Club, began at the RNGC from Sunday.

A total of 25 participants from eight to 16 years of age are taking part in the 10-day clinic conducted by Deepak Thapa Magar, Ramesh Nagarkoti and Sachin Bhattarai, informed Tashi Ghale, General Secretary of the NGA. “The main purpose of the clinic is to produce junior golfers and for that we are starting from the grass root level,” said Ghale. “The clinic mainly focuses on the basics of the game which is the key part of any sport,” he added.

Ghale said that similar clinics would be held in other golf clubs of the country in near future.

“We are planning to oragnise such clinics in Gokarna and Dharan,” he said. “After the completion of the clinics, we have planned to organise tournaments for them,” he informed. The NGA have provided the balls and the equipments for the clinic. “We are using 10 junior golf sets granted to us by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of Scotland,” said Ghale.
