Lalitpur, May 14:

British Gurkhas defeated Jawalakhel Veterans 4-3 in tie-breaker in the final of the Jawalakhel Seven-a-side Football Tournament on Sunday.

The match went to penalty shoot-out after a goalless draw in the regulation 30-minute time.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, British Gurkhas beat Friends Group and JYC veterans defeated TBS Orient. Philip KC of Jawalakhel Veterans and Ravi Maharjan of TBS Orient won the best player and highest scorer’s award respectively and received a Mountain Flight ticket each sponsored by Buddha Air. Central Zoo won the fair play award.

In all, 12 teams took part in the two-day event organised by Jawalakhel Youth Club to mark its 35th anniversary.
