POKHARA: Gyan Jyoti Vidya Kunja and Pokhara Academy won the titles of the Mount Annapurna U-14 Handball Tournament here on Tuesday.

In boys’ category final, GyanJyoti thrashed Gandaki Boarding School 18-8 riding on 10 goals from Sanjay Pun, who was later named the player-of-the-tournament.

Hosts Mount Annapurna School ‘A’ defeated Pokhara Academy 10-4 to claim third position. In girls’ final, Pokhara Academy defeated Mount Annapurna 5-1, while Gandaki beat Little Step 14-10 to finish third.

Top three teams in both categories got Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

Karma Pulami of Pokhara Academy was named the best player in the girls’ category.

A total of 22 teams — 12 in boys’ and 10 in girls’ categories — competed in the event organised by Mount Annapurna School.
