Gyanodaya, Campion School enter semis

Gyanodaya Bal Batika School thrashed Kathmandu Valley School 77-6 and Campion School outplayed Oasis School 26-22 to enter the girls’ section semi-finals at the Campion Inter-school Basketball Tournament, today. In the boys’ section, Ashim Shrestha netted 13 points as Brihaspati Vidya Sadan defeated Campion School 32-23 and joined Sambotta School in the semis. Sambotta earned walkover from Himalayan School. RIBS beat Sagarmatha School 60-25, thanks to Robin Khatri, who netted 20 points. Gyanodaya left KVS under pressure throughout the match leading the the first quarter 20-0, the second 26-2, the third 17-2 and 14-2 in the last quarter. Lalisha Thapa scored all the six ponts while Gyanodaya’s Sabina Pokharel netted 22. In the other match, Oasis took a four-point lead, restricting Campion to just two in the first quarter. But the hosts came back strongly in the second quarter and took a 12-10 lead. The third quarter saw Campion adding seven more points while Oasis added four. Oasis held Campion players in the last quarters, but failed to advance because of poor show in earlier two quarters. Bhanu Gurung top-scored with 10 points for Campion whereas Oasis’ Uncha Rai netted nine.
