Himalayan Bank close to qualifying

The Himalayan Bank closes in for a place in quarter-finals after winning all three matches of the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes cricket tournament here today.
After losing their inaugural match against the Group ‘A’ winner Embassy of India, Himalayan Bank defeated Everest Bank, Citizens Bank and New Business Age to earn six points from four matches. Embassy of India qualified for the last eight after winning all five matches.
The Himalayan Bank first defeated Everest Bank by five wickets. Everest scored 42-5 and Himalayan Bank overcame the total for the loss of one wicket in 3.3 overs. In their next game, Himalayan Bank outplayed Citizens Bank by 37 runs. Himalayan Bank set a 84-run target but Citizens could only muster 46-3. In their last match, Himalayan Bank overcame New Business Age by 35 runs. Himalayan Bank scored 68-3 and restricted New Business Age to 33-5. Himalayan Bank will play their last match against The Himalayan Times on Thursday.
Embassy of Pakistan climbed to second in Group ‘B’ with four points from three matches after defeating Shikhar Insurance by three wickets. Bottlers Nepal lost both their matches against Shikhar Insurance and Soaltee Crowne Plaza. Standard Chartered Bank already advanced to the quarter-finals from group after winning all four matches.
Surya Nepal rose to second in Group ‘C’ with four points after winning their second consecutive match. Kantipur Group lead the group with six points. Surya Nepal defeated Siddhartha Bank by 25 runs. In the same group, NIC Bank beat Siddhartha Bank by six runs.
United Finance lead Group ‘D’ with six points from three matches after beating Avenues TV and Nepal Merchant Bank (NMB). United overcame Avenues by 24 runs and the NMB by six wickets.
