Himalayan clinch cricket championship

Kathmandu, January 20

Himalayan Cricket Academy defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by 40 runs to win the Pran Litchi Drinks National Inter-club Youth Cricket Championship here at the TU Stadium today.

Batting first, Himalayan scored 140-7 in 20 overs and packed TAC for 100 runs in 17.4 overs. Opener Bhupendra Thapa top scored for Himalayan with 30 off 35 balls that included four fours, while Dinesh Aagri scored 24 off 19 balls

that included three fours and a six. Amar Singh Rautela (21), Arun Airee (15) and Bhim Sarki (14) also made significant contributions with the bat. For TAC Sagar Pun and Jitendra Mukhiya claimed two wickets each, while Sharad Vesawakar and Avinash Karn took a wicket apiece.

In reply, Naresh Budhayer top scored for TAC with 23 off 26 balls with two fours and two sixes, while Chandra Saud (17), Binod Bhandari (14) and Sharad Vesawakar (12) were the other TAC batsmen to score in double figures. For Himalayan, Lalit Bhandari claimed three wickets, while Abinash Bohara and Bhuwan Karki took two wickets each, Yagyaman Kumal and Amar Singh Rautela grabbed a wicket apiece.

With the victory, Himalayan Academy received Rs 101,111, while TAC got Rs 50,000. Sharad Vesawakar of TAC was named the player of the tournament and received Rs 10,000, while Bhupendra Thapa and Bhuwan Karki of Himalayan were adjudged the best batsman and bowler respectively. They received Rs 7, 500 each. Likewise, Amar Airee of HCA was named the best fielder, while Anup Shrestha of TU received the emerging player’s award.
