ISME come second; Samsung Mobile third
Kathmandu, February 23:
Himalayan Distillery won the Kathmandu Scramble Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club.
International Society of Medical Education (ISME) Pvt Ltd ‘B’ came second and Samsung Mobile finished third. Himalayan Distillery — comprising pro Surya Sharma and amateurs Shrihar SJB Rana, Neeraj SJB Rana and Tashi Sherpa — accumulated 12-under 55 while the ISME team of pro Deepak Thapa Magar and amateurs Subodh Thapa, Joseph Nathan and Tashi Tsering had a card of 11-under 56. Pro CB Bhandari teamed up with amateurs Jamling Ghale, Tashi Ghale and KC Gurung to lead the Samsung Mobile team to third at 10-under 57.
A total of 16 teams took part in the one-day event played under stroke play format. Deepak Thapa Magar won the Longest Drive award, while Gen KS Thapa bagged the Closest to the Pin award. ISME Pvt Ltd ‘A’ won the Most Eagle award, whereas Deep Basnet got Special prize.
RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba, vice president Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha, Captain Rabindra Man Shrestha and Nepal PGA President Ghana Shyam Thapa gave away prizes to the winners.
Meanwhile, Vice Captain of RNGC Tashi Ghale announced three tournaments for 2008 — All Nepal Junior and Sub-junior Boys and Girls Tournament, All Nepal Golf Club Championships Tournament and Professional Golfers Match Play Tournament. All the three events will be sponsored by Samsung Mobile, informed Ghale.
