KATHMANDU: Nepali swimmer Nasir Yahya Hussain set the new national record in the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan on Sunday.
The 17-year-old Hussain completed the 400m freestyle event in four minutes and 8.23 seconds to break his own mark. Hussain had set the record of 4:12.17 during the 11th NSA Cup held at the International Sports Complex last month in Lalitpur.
Two Nepali swimmers will be in action on Monday with Hussain competing in 200m freestyle event and Olympian Gaurika Singh taking part in the 100m backstroke event.
