HWHIC, Don Bosco, RIBS, ESS in semis

White House International College (HWHIC) and Everest South Siders (ESS) entered the semi-finals of the second Annual Father Watrin Men’s Basketball Championship, which has been organised by Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) in association with The Himalayan Times, here at GAA Hall today. In the first quarter-final at the GAA Hall, Rajiv top-scored with 31 points as Don Bosco thrashed Ideal Model School 77-39. Kamal Bista of Ideal Model opened the basket with a 3-pointer, as both the teams scored 10 points each in the first quarter. Don Bosco took a 10-point lead in the second quarter scoring 20 points to Ideal Model’s 10 points.
Rabin, Rajiv and Rajan netted a 3-pointer each in the third quarter as Don Bosco added another 15 points restricting Ideal Model to just eight points, which gave Don Bosco a 27-point lead.
Kamal Bista had four points and Manoj Maharjan and Abin netted two points each for Ideal Model. In the last quarter, Rajan added other three 3-pointers to his credit. In the other quarter-final matches, Rinzin Gurung netted 32 points as RIBS thrashed Galaxian 87-46; Everest South Siders advanced with a thumping 75-42 win over Public Youth Campus 75-42 riding on Rishi Robertson’s 29 points; and Sagun Kansakar netted 20 points but could not save Ace Flyers from going down 47-74 to Himalayan White House International College (HWHIC). The tournament will now move to St Xavier’s School in Jawalakhel. In Thursday’s semi-finals, the South Siders will face RIBS, and HWHIC will take on Ideal Model. The final will be held on Saturday.
