Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd is organising the Hyundai Open Golf Tournament at the Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday.

Around 130 golfers are expected to take part in the tournament to be played under stableford ¾ handicap format, informed the organisers at a press meet. The tournament features six categories - overall, gross, women, senior, junior and Hyundai owner.

Marketing Manager of Laxmi Intercontinental Sandeep Sharma hoped the tournament would be the best platform for golfer from corporate sector to develop bonding among them. "We started the event 11 years ago and we were not able to organise the tournament last year due to coronavirus pandemic," said Sharma. "The tournament has grown over the years and we have also increased the prizes accordingly," he added.

Laxmi Intercontinental has put Hyundai Venue as Hole-in- One prize on Hole No 10.

"Apart from giving away attractive prizes to the winners, we will also have a free check-up camp for Hyundai vehicles on that day," said Sharma. "Hyundai has been associated with sports under various capacities and we will keep supporting this sector."

Senior Golf Director at Gokarna Forest Resort Deepak Acharya said Hyundai Open had made a distinct identity in social golf. "It is one of the most awaited tournaments in golfing calendar and we might be forced to extend the event over two days due to the enormous response," said Acharya.

"We had planned to close the registration after 100 participants but we might have to divide the participants into two days as we have already estimating around 130 golfers."
