Rabin Phuyal won the title of the second Ang Tshiring Sherpa Memorial Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

The 17-handicap amateur golfer Phuyal, who completed his round yesterday, finished first with 43 points. Along with the trophy, Phuyal received a package worth Rs 300,000 including breakfast for four persons at Yeti Mountain Home in Kongde and helicopter ride on Altitude Air. Niskarsha Ghale came second with 42 points and he got two nights and three days stay at Mala Lodge in Ghandruk for two persons along with return tickets to Pokhara.

Sam Doublard won the gross section trophy with 33 points.

He received a package of two nights and three days stay at Moksha Mustang for two persons along with return tickets to Jomsom from Yeti Airlines and Tara Air. Mithun Rai was runner-up with 32 points and he got a package of two nights and three days stay at Mala Lodge in Ghandruk for two persons along with return tickets to Pokhara from Yeti Airlines.

Gita Gurung claimed the women's section title with 34 points and she received a package of two nights and three days stay at Yeti Mountain Home in Khangri for two persons and return tickets to Lukla. Prativa Rai came second with 31 points and she got a package of two nights and three days stay at Kasara Jungle Resort for two persons and return tickets to Bharatpur from Yeti Airlines along with wildlife activities.

Brig Gen (retd) Dilip Rayamajhi accumulated 36 points to bag the senior section trophy and he earned a package from Gokarna Forest Resort for two persons.

Aaiesteena Tandon claimed the junior category title with 10 points and she got a package of two nights and three days stay at Buddha Maya Garden Hotel in Lumbini for two persons along with air tickets to Bhairahawa from Yeti Airlines.

Also, Maj Gen (retd) Mahesh Bikram Karki won the most birdies trophy on count back after he was tied on four birdies with Pemba Sherpa, while Sam Doublard and Charlie Gurung claimed the longest drive and closest-to-the-pin awards respectively.

They received gift hampers from Yeti Group of Companies. No one could win the KIA Sonet car kept for Holein-One on Hole No 10 but Jhalendra Bhattarai had an ace on Hole No 16 and he received a special prize.

A total of 152 golfers took part in the two-day tournament organised by Yeti Group of Companies in memory of Managing Director of Yeti Group of Companies and a tourism entrepreneur Ang Tshiring Sherpa, who died in a helicopter crash three years ago.

Chairman of Yeti Airlines Lakpa Sonam Sherpa, Managing Director Chanda Sherpa, Chief Executive Officer Anoj Rimal, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire, Captain Joseph Nathan, Dr Sanduk Ruit and President of Himalaya Airlines Zhou En Yong handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament, which was played under stableford 3/4 handicap format.

The organisers donated Rs 304,000 raised from the tournament to two nonprofit organisations working for women rights - Women for Human Rights and She Nepal.
