KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 15

Namibia secured a four-wicket victory over Nepal in the opening match of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League-2 triangular series.

Playing at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Namibia claimed victory today, earning two points in the process. Chasing Nepal's target of 133 runs, Namibia achieved victory in 33.1 overs, losing six wickets in the process.

Leading Namibia to victory, Jan Nicolaas Frylinck top-scored with 34 runs, including four fours, from 53 balls. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton contributed 31 runs, while Michael van Lingen added 23, followed by Nicholas Davin with 15 runs.

In terms of bowling, Sompal Kami claimed three wickets, while Lalit Rajbanshi took two, and Rohit Kumar Paudel dismissed one batter.

Nepal, batting first after losing the toss, concluded the first innings with a score of 132 runs in 41.1 overs, losing all wickets.

Bhim Sarki top-scored for Nepal with 44 runs from 86 balls, including two fours and one six. Gulshan Jha made 21 runs with three boundaries in 31 balls, while Karan KC contributed 16 runs with three boundaries in 38 balls. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel managed just one run from 13 balls.

Kushal Malla scored 15 runs with one boundary and one six in 22 balls, Sompal Kami was out for two runs, and Kushal Bhurtel failed to score. Pawan Sharraf added 12 runs, followed by Anil Shah with eight, and Asif Sheikh with four.

In restricting Nepal to 132, Namibia's Gerhard Erasmus claimed five wickets, while Jack Brassell and Ruben Trumpelmann took two wickets each.

Nepal will face the Netherlands in their second match on Saturday.
