ICC WCL C'ship: Namibia post 240-run target to Nepal

KATHMANDU: Namibia posted a 240-run target to Nepal in the second-day match of the ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur on Monday.

While Nepal had won the toss and opted to field first, Namibia had scored 239 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.

Nepal's challenge is comparatively tougher today than on Saturday as Namibia scored the total greater by 44 runs.

The hosts had a comparative feeble bowling performance today. They, however, had taken wickets in regular intervals.

They were unable to take any wicket till the 21st over.

Sandeep Lamichhane, Basant Regmi and Shakti Gauchan took two wickets each for Nepal while the skipper Paras Khadka could not take any wicket.

Likewise, Sompal Kami also could not take any wicket.

For Namibia, the skipper Stephan Baard had scored the highest of 51 runs off 60 balls before being caught behind in the 21st over, off Sandeep Lamichhane's delivery.

Zane Green scored 47 runs while Sarel Burger scored 43.

Jean-Pierre Kotze and Nicolaas Reimert Petrus Scholtz scored 32 and 22 runs respectively.

Nepali team had witnessed a slight change today. Sagar Pun is in team in place of Raju Rijal and Binod Bhandari has been given the responsibility of wicket keeper.

Today’s Nepali team comprises Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Vesawkar, Shakti Gauchan, Basanta Regmi, Sompal Kami, Binod Bhandari, Rajesh Pulami Magar, Sagar Pun, Naresh Budhaer and Sandeep Lamichhane.

ICC WCL C'ship: Nepal win toss, decide to field 1st against Namibia

KATHMANDU: Nepal won the toss and opted to field against Namibia in the second-day match of the ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur on Monday.

Nepal on Saturday had won against Namibia by five wickets stepping close to qualify for the 2018 ICC World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Bangladesh.

Both teams have equal point. However, Nepal stand at the sixth position while Namibia are placed at the seventh.

Nepal must win today's match to qualify for the Qualifiers.
