KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 22

The Nepali Women's Cricket team lost to Hong Kong by six wickets in the first match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers, on Monday.

Hong Kong succeeded in chasing a target of 105 runs, which Nepal had set in the allotted 20 overs at the expense of three wickets.

Sita Rana Magar scored 40 runs for Nepal while Indu Barma contributed 31 runs. Carrie Chan and Betty Chan took one wicket each for Hong Kong.

Mariko Hill made the most 42 runs as Hong Kong achieved the target in 18 overs. Carrie Chan added 17 and Natasha Miles added 16 runs for the winning side. Nepal's Kavita Kunwar, Sita Ranamagar and Sabnam Rai took one wicket each.

The match was hosted by the ICC International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

There are six teams participating in the qualifiers. The team that tops the score table will secure a berth in the World Cup qualifiers.

Nepal is scheduled to play its second match against Bhutan on Tuesday. Similarly, Nepal's third match will be against Kuwait on Thursday.

In the same manner, Nepal will play its fourth game against Malaysia on Friday and the last game has been scheduled against UAE next Sunday (November 28, 2022).
