Informatics, Downtown record wins in MCL

Informatics College Cheetahs and Downtown Pokhara Lions recorded wins in the Machhapuchhre Cricket League here at the MCC grounds today.

Informatics defeated KKAF Syangja Challengers by five runs, while Downtown outplayed Parbat Titans by 22 runs.

Batting first, Informatics were bowled out for 109 runs in 17.1 overs before packing Challengers for 104-9.

Informatics’ Milan Thapa top scored with 33 off 37 balls that included three fours and a six, while Ishowor Thapa hit 17-ball 27 with the help of a boundary and three sixes. Sangam Gautam, Ashok Shrestha, Suraj Gurung and Dol Gurung claimed two wickets each for Challengers.

In reply, Challengers fell six runs short. Bishow Thapa scored 22 off 19 balls hitting a four and two sixes, while Ishowor Shrestha cracked a boundary and two sixes in his 11-ball 21. Samir Sen, Kiran Pun and Bishwash Prajuli took two wickets each for Informatics.

In another match, Downtown scored 104-9 in 20 over after they opted to bat first. Titans were packed for 82 runs with four balls to spare.

Downtown posted a fighting total riding on Krishna Sen’s 29-ball 30 that included five boundaries. Titans’ Paras Lamichhane, Raju Tamang and Agendra Chhantyal picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Titans lost the match as their batsmen failed to build partnership. Downtown’s Sudeep Poudel claimed three wickets, while Lal Bahadur Gurung, Parvin Pandey and Biru Gurung took two wickets each.
