International cricket match for Rotarians

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Rotarians will play two international cricket matches against the Rotarians of India on September 20 and 21 at the TU Stadium, hosts Rotary Club of Rajdhani said here today.

The two-day event consists of a Twenty20 match on Sunday followed by a 30-over-a-side match the next day. Rotary International Nepal District -3292 will be hosting the event.

The 15-member Nepali team will be led by Rajesh Thapa with Suresh Khatri as the vice-captain. The 20 member Indian team from Kolkata (District-3291) is arriving in Kathmandu on Saturday. The Nepali team is scheduled to go to Kolkata to participate in the Rotary Mini World Cup slated for December 18-20, said Rajendra Bahadur Shrestha, founder president of Rotary Club of Rajdhani.

The Nepal Rotary Team will be enlisted among the cricket playing countries after the two matches. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, England and South Africa are the other eight countries who will participate in the Mini World Cup in India. The top teams from the mini World Cup will qualify for the World Cup of Rotarians slated for South Africa in March next year.
