Janak advance to semis

LALITPUR: Janak Boarding School of Morang earned a walk over win from Little Moon High School of Kathmandu and entered the semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament here today.

Janak School earned a 2-0 victory and three points as per the tournament rules to top Group B and secure a place in the last four after their opponent did not turn up at the venue.

In the Group D match, Shanti Nikunja Boarding School of Pokhara defeated Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS)

of Kathmandu 3-0. Kshitiz Sen opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Tapan Pun doubled the

tally nine minutes later and Krishna Prajapati made it

3-0 in the 42nd minute. Radhika High School have already entered the semi-finals from the Group.

The four matches, originally slated for Friday, were rescheduled for Thursday with the team managers’ consent after the student unions called valley bandh for Friday. Only two matches could take place due to the watery pitch at the ANFA Complex and the other two will be held tomorrow as the student bodies have wit drew their programme.

On Friday, Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya will take on Sautha HS School of Morang, while Gandaki Boarding School are up against Arunodaya High School. Both BSAM and Sautha have three points each in Group A, while Gandaki have three and Arunodaya one point in Group C.
