JSC demands NSC to dissolve two FAs

Kathmandu, July 15:

Joint Struggle Committee (JSC) today demanded the dissolution of the two existing Football Associations (FA) — All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Nepal Football Association (NFA) — here today.

The JSC, which has long been demanding the dissolution and fresh elections after dissolving the ANFA, handed over their memorandum to the National Sports Council (NSC) member secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha. The JSC also expressed surprise over the formation of a new FA.

“The existence of two FAs has created confusion as to who is the legitimate association of Nepal as FIFA and AFC recognise ANFA while NSC identifies NFA,” said the JSC. The NFA was registered on June 20 against the NSC’s own by-laws.

To solve the current uncertainty and confusion, the JSC has demanded to form an ad-hoc committee by including members of all three parties — ANFA, NFA and JSC. The ad-hoc committee will then hold elections in the presence of Ministry, FIFA, AFC NSC and Nepal Olympic Committee representatives, read the JSC memorandum.

Through the memorandum, the JSC also made public their agitation programmes. Handing over the memorandum to Prime Minster and CA members, organising corner meets and signature campaign are among the initial programmes the JSC has announced. “We will come up with more programmes if our demands were not met,” the JSC said.
