Jutitham clinches NGA Cup

Kathmandu, June 9:

Jutitham Akul played a marvellous round of golf to lift the NGA Cup Open Golf Championship here at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa today.

Played under 3/4 handicap format, Jutitham scored 37 stableford points for just one stroke win over Ojaswi Singh.

Jutitham managed 18 points in the front nine and 19 on the back nine. Singh, however, scored just 16 points in the front nine but improved in the back nine with 20 points.

Golfers had to play in a rainy condition throughout the day making them tough to make clean shots. Kalyani Moktan claimed the ladies’ section title with 30 points while Dr Rita

Thapa (21) finished as runner up.

Major LB Gurung won the senior (above 60yrs) section title with a total of 34 points.

AT Sherpa won the most birdies award. Sherpa had four birdies during the tournament. Other winners included Hridesh Singh (closest to the pin), Il Sang Hwang (longest drive) and Arjun Gurung (best sportsmanship).

Organised by the Nepal Golf Association (NGA), a total of 85 golfers including six ladies and 15 senior players took part in the tournament. NGA president Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, Royal Nepal Golg Course president Madhukar Yakthumba and Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort & Spa president Prem Sachdev gave away the prizes.
