Jhapa, March 1:
Raj Kumar Ghising scored one and set up another as Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) beat Jhapa-XI 2-0 and entered the semi-finals of the 16th Tribhuvan Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament, which has been organising by the Gold Cup Organising Committee under the sponsorship of Himalayan Snax and Noodles Pvt Ltd, here at Mechi Stadium today. After a tedious 40-minute goalless first half, Jawalakhel Youth Club took lead through Raj Kumar Ghising. Ghising’s goal came in the 55th minute when he found the net following Jibesh Pandey’s pass. Both Ghising and Pandey are hired by Jawalakhel Club from Sankata Club.
Substitute Birat Thapa doubled the tally for Jawalakhel Youth Club with seven minutes remaining in the match. Birat, who replaced Bikash Thapa, scored following Raj Kumar Ghising’s pass. Jhapa-Xi should have taken a lead in the 50th minute, but Yougal Kishor Rai muffed up an easy opportunity following a pass from Babulal Hasda. However, Rai was later declared the man of the match. As per the schedule, Sahara Club of Pokhara will take on Gerzoe Telegraph of Kolkata in the second quarter-final match on Wednesday at the same venue.
