Kalimati, Rising enter semi-finals

KATHMANDU: Kalimati Challengers and Rising Nepal advanced to the semi-finals of the Inter-Marwari Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here today.

Kalimati finished as Group ‘B’ winners with seven points, one more than Rising Nepal. Kuleshwor Jerseys ended up third after sharing a point with Kalimati when their last league match was washed out today. Only one over was bowled before the match was called off today. Had Kuleshwor won today, there would have been a three-way tie and two teams with better run rates would have advanced. Kathmandu Kings XI returned without a win.

The day’s other match between Tip Top XI and Bishal Bazar Blasters was also washed out after only eight overs of play. Batting first, Tip Top were cruising along nicely at 61-1 in eight overs before rain forced the match to be called off. The result effectively ended Tip Tops hopes of making it to the semi-finals from Group ‘A” as they ended their league round with just one point. Naxal Challengers have already secured their place in the last four winning all three matches.

Thursday’s match between City Centre Challengers and Bishal Bazaar Blasters will decide the Group ‘B’ runners up. City Centre have three points while Bishal Bazaar have one. The winners will play Kalimati Challengers in the semi-finals. Naxal will take on Rising Nepal in the first semi-finals on Thursday.
