Kathmandu, Bhairahawa share points
Region 3 Kathmandu and Region 4 Bhairahawa shared one point each after the day’s rain-delayed match was abandoned due to rain. The first innings of the reduced 25-over match was stopped after 22 overs. According to the officials, it was impossible to finish the second innings before cut off time.
Bhairahawa have already entered the finals with five points. Bhairahawa will play against Biratnagar in the final of the Birendra Memorial National League Cricket Tournament being organised by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) under the sponsorship of Gorkha Brewery. The final is slated for Saturday at the Tribhuvan University ground, Kirtipur.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss Bhairahawa scored 131 runs for the loss of four wickets in 22 overs. Opener Basant Regmi scored 35 off 54 balls before being stumped by wicketkeeper Monish off the bowling of Nepali international Bardan Chalise.
First down batsman Raju Khadka top scored with 61 off 52 balls including five sixes before being dismissed by Raju Khadka in the 20th over. Shakti Gauchan and Prakash Gurung were on 17 and three when the play was abandoned.
For Kathmandu, Raju took two wickets conceding 26 runs in five overs, while Pramod Basnet and Bardan Chalise grabbed one wicket each.
