Kayastha claims title
KATHMANDU: FIDE Master Madan Krishna Kayastha lifted the title of the NECOS Rapid Chess Championship here on Thursday. Kayastha registered five wins and drew one to win the trophy, while Bibek Thing finished second with five points and Rupesh Jaiswal came third. The top three players received Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. FIDE Master Manish Hamal and Kshitiz Bhandari finished fourth and fifth respectively. Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Paudel handed over the prizes to the winners.
Seven-a-side Football
DAMAULI: The second edition of the Seven-a-side Open Football Tournament will be held from July 18 in Damauli, informed Byas Youth Club President Jeevan Gurung on Thursday. A total of 15 teams will compete in the tournament with top two teams earning Rs 30,100 and Rs 15,100 respectively. Player of the tournament will be awarded with Rs 2,000, while the highest goal scorer will receive Rs 1,500
Hannover sign Bech
HANOVER: Hanover 96 have completed the signing of Denmark international Uffe Bech from Nordsjaelland on Wednesday. The 22-year-old midfielder, who has won three international caps, has penned a four-year contract.
